Privacy Policy

  1. SafarYaari respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information SafarYaari collects from you, why SafarYaari collects it, how SafarYaari uses it, when SafarYaari may share it and how SafarYaari protects it.
  2. When you create an Account or use SafarYaari, you provide certain information to SafarYaari so that SafarYaari can provide its services, verify Users, facilitate Rides, process Bookings and Deposits, and maintain the safety and security of the Platform.
  3. SafarYaari may collect your name, date of birth, gender, profile photograph, mobile number, email address, WhatsApp preference, login information and other information that you provide while creating or using your Account.
  4. If you use Google Sign-In, SafarYaari may receive information such as your name, email address and profile photograph from Google for the purpose of creating and managing your Account.
  5. SafarYaari may ask you to verify your identity before you publish or book a Ride. For this purpose, SafarYaari may check a government-issued identity document and a live selfie.
  6. SafarYaari will not store your identity document images after the identity verification process; these are processed for verification and discarded once the verification request is completed. Your live selfie is retained for at least 30 days from the date of verification. After that period, SafarYaari will ask you to upload a fresh live selfie before you publish or join any Ride.
  7. SafarYaari may keep the result of your identity verification, the last four characters of your identity document number and a securely generated hash of the document number. SafarYaari uses this information for verification, security and preventing misuse of the Platform.
  8. SafarYaari may collect information about your Rides, Bookings, seats, Deposits, refunds, cancellations, ratings and Trust Score so that SafarYaari can operate the Platform and provide its services.
  9. SafarYaari may collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, login times, signed-in devices and Account activity. SafarYaari uses this information for security, fraud prevention, customer support and maintaining an audit trail.
  10. SafarYaari will use your information to create and secure your Account, verify your identity, match Users with Rides, process Bookings, hold and refund Deposits, send notifications, provide safety features, maintain ratings and Trust Scores, prevent fraud and comply with applicable law.
  11. SafarYaari will not sell your personal information to anyone.
  12. SafarYaari will not use your personal information for advertising purposes.
  13. SafarYaari will not publicly display your phone number, email address, date of birth, emergency contact details or identity documents to other Users, except where disclosure is necessary for a service you have requested, required for safety or required by law.
  14. Other verified Users may see limited information from your profile, such as your first name, photograph, verified badge, Trust Score, ratings, member-since date, bio, city, languages, preferences and, where you have permitted it, your trip count.
  15. SafarYaari may use your information to provide live-trip sharing and SOS features. If you provide an emergency contact, you must have that person's permission before providing their information to SafarYaari.
  16. If you use live-trip sharing or an SOS feature, SafarYaari may share the information necessary to provide that feature with your emergency contact or SafarYaari's relevant support personnel.
  17. SafarYaari will use third-party service providers where necessary to operate the Platform. These may include services for hosting, database management, backups, identity verification, SMS, WhatsApp, email, payment processing, security and other technical services.
  18. SafarYaari uses AWS infrastructure in Mumbai, India for hosting, databases, backups, profile photographs, email services and identity verification.
  19. SafarYaari may use Cloudflare for DNS, TLS protection and network security, MSG91 for SMS and WhatsApp OTPs, Google for Google Sign-In, Meta's WhatsApp services for applicable communications and Razorpay for payment processing when payment services are made live.
  20. SafarYaari will share information with these service providers only to the extent necessary for them to provide their services to SafarYaari.
  21. SafarYaari will not permit its service providers to use your personal information for their own unrelated purposes, except where such processing is independently required or permitted under applicable law.
  22. SafarYaari stores its Member data primarily in India. However, some service providers operate through global networks, and certain information may therefore pass through or be processed outside India while providing their services.
  23. If you make a payment through a payment gateway, your payment details will be handled by the applicable payment gateway. SafarYaari does not intend to store your card or bank details on its own servers.
  24. SafarYaari uses reasonable security measures to protect your information. These measures include encrypted connections, secure password hashing, login protection, limited OTP validity, restricted database access and other security controls.
  25. SafarYaari will not knowingly ask you to provide your password through an email, message or telephone call. You are responsible for keeping your password, OTPs and Account credentials confidential.
  26. SafarYaari will keep your information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary to operate your Account, provide services, maintain security, prevent fraud, resolve disputes and comply with applicable law.
  27. SafarYaari will delete OTPs after they expire, delete used or expired email links after the applicable period and remove expired sessions through its regular security processes.
  28. When you close your Account, SafarYaari may deactivate and hide your Account information. SafarYaari may retain certain information where it is necessary for legal, security, fraud prevention, dispute-resolution or other lawful purposes.
  29. SafarYaari currently uses only necessary cookies required for login and operation of the Platform. SafarYaari does not currently use advertising or tracking cookies. The Cookie Policy describes each cookie in detail.
  30. Cloudflare may place a short-term security cookie to help protect the Platform from bots and other security threats.
  31. If SafarYaari introduces analytics or non-essential cookies in the future, SafarYaari will update this Privacy Policy and provide any consent or notice required under applicable law.
  32. SafarYaari may send you necessary messages relating to your Account, OTPs, verification, Bookings, Rides, cancellations, refunds, security and other Platform services.
  33. SafarYaari will not send promotional communications to you where applicable consent is required unless you have provided the required consent. WhatsApp promotional communications will require the applicable opt-in.
  34. SafarYaari may disclose your information where required by a court, government authority, law enforcement authority, regulator or other competent authority, or where disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law.
  35. SafarYaari may also use or disclose information where reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, protect the Platform, protect Users, investigate misuse, enforce its Terms and Conditions or protect its legal rights.
  36. You may view and edit applicable information in your profile, sign out of your devices and request assistance regarding your Account and verification.
  37. You may request deletion of your personal information by contacting SafarYaari through the designated support or email channel. SafarYaari may retain information where the law permits or requires it to be retained.
  38. If you have any complaint or concern regarding your personal information, you should first inform SafarYaari through its designated support or grievance channel and provide the relevant details so that SafarYaari can investigate and resolve the issue.
  39. SafarYaari will make reasonable efforts to examine and resolve privacy-related complaints within a reasonable period, depending upon the nature and complexity of the issue.
  40. If SafarYaari becomes aware of a personal data breach requiring notification under applicable law, SafarYaari will take the required steps to notify affected Users and the competent authority in accordance with applicable law.
  41. SafarYaari may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any revised Privacy Policy will be displayed and published on the SafarYaari website and will become effective from the date mentioned in the revised Privacy Policy.
  42. SafarYaari will not be required to send a separate email to every User for every change to this Privacy Policy unless such communication is required by applicable law. Users should periodically review the Privacy Policy available on the SafarYaari website.
  43. Where applicable law requires SafarYaari to obtain fresh consent for any particular use of personal information, SafarYaari will obtain such consent in the manner required by law.
  44. SafarYaari will not use your personal information for any purpose that is materially different from the purposes described in this Privacy Policy unless SafarYaari provides the required notice or obtains the required consent under applicable law.
  45. This Privacy Policy does not limit any rights available to you under applicable law.
